BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Commission’s Cultural Division invites interested participants from the community to a Mini-Grant Program grant writing workshop offered TWICE on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, in the Broward County Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. The workshop will be offered at 11:00 am on the 6th floor in the Bienes Conference Room, and AGAIN at 7:00 pm in the 8th floor boardroom.

The purpose of the Mini-Grant Program is to assist eligible Broward County not-for-profit cultural organizations with annual operating revenues of less than $100,000; and eligible Broward-based practicing professional artists, to fund small, but complete, cultural projects for which applicants have not received grant monies through any other Cultural Division program. The project must be an exhibition, a performance, or other arts activity. “This workshop provides an excellent opportunity for cultural organizations and artists to obtain first-hand knowledge on constructing a grant application with the maximum chance for success,” says Mary A. Becht, director of Broward County Cultural Division.

Non-profit cultural organizations may apply for up to $5,000 per award on a funds available basis. An organization may apply for up to three Mini-Grants per fiscal year but shall not receive in excess of $10,000 in Mini-Grant funding during any County fiscal year. Organizations must be registered with the Florida Secretary of State as a cultural, not-for-profit corporation. They must have operated in their discipline(s) in Broward County for a minimum of one uninterrupted year following incorporation; and must have provided services in Broward County for a minimum of six months following the date of incorporation.

Individual Broward-based practicing professional artists, eighteen (18) years or older, residing in Broward County and that have lived continuously in Broward County for the immediate twelve consecutive months prior to the filing date of application, may also apply. An individual Broward-based artist may apply for up to $2,000 per award on a funds available basis. An individual artist may apply for one (1) Mini-Grant per fiscal year and shall not receive in excess of $2,000 in Mini-Grant funding during any County fiscal year.

The next Mini-Grant Program application deadline is February 10, 2007 for projects implemented after May 1, 2007.
