BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Commission’s Cultural Division announces a grant writing workshop to be offered TWICE on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at 2:00 pm and again at 7:00 pm, in the Broward County Main Library, Room 8C, 8th floor, 100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale.

The Design Arts Grant Program is aimed at improving the aesthetics of the built environment in Broward to create a stronger sense of place and community identity. The specific purpose of this grant is to assist partnerships of entities in Broward County and/or not-for-profit organizations (neighborhood associations, historical organizations, local Main Street programs, civic organizations, etc.) to help fund the cost of contracting with a professional design team. The Design Arts Program can also assist with funding projects that include the creation of regional or multi-municipality community pre-design cultural plans (with a minimum of three municipalities).

An entity that is a not-for-profit organization, municipality, state government agency or political subdivision of state government, located primarily in Broward County, or a subdivision of Broward County, in collaboration with one or more Broward-based government entity(s) or not-for-profit organization(s) may apply. One entity will be the lead applicant, responsible for meeting project and grant requirements.
The Jaycee Park Design and Wayfinding Plan Project Funds awarded under the Design Arts Program are for design development and cultural planning only, not implementation or construction. Recent examples of past funded projects include: Northwest 27th Avenue District – Urban Landscape, Wayfinding, District Design Improvements & Master Plan Project by Roosevelt Gardens Homeowners Association, The Jaycee Park Design and Wayfinding Plan Project by Wilton Manors Main Street and the City of Dania Beach, FL.

The award size for this grant program is up to $15,000 per project, per applicant, on a funds available basis. The deadline for grant applications is January 10, 2008, for projects starting April 1, 2008.
