Broward Cultural Division Hosts General Operating Program Grant Application Workshop

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – Broward County Commission’s Cultural Division offers a grant application workshop for the General Operating Program on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 p.m., in the Main Library, Room 6 E (gallery six), 100 S. Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.

The purpose of this grant program is to assist eligible Broward-based, not-for-profit cultural organizations, that have been operational in their cultural disciplines for a minimum of two years immediately preceding the date of application, in meeting general operating expenses associated with the presentation and/or production of a regular season of exhibitions, programs, events or performances open to the general public in Broward County.

The workshop will also cover how to submit online grant applications.

Grant awards may range from $10,000 to $75,000. An organization must have a 501 (c) (3) status with the IRS, and documented yearly Broward revenue of at least $40,000 to be eligible for funding. General Operating Program grant application deadline is February 1, 2010 for fiscal year 2011 funding. The application workshop is designed for ongoing applicants to the General Operating Program to learn about eligibility requirements. Organizations such as Bailes Ferrer, Mosaic Theater and the Sistrunk Historical Festival have received funding through this grant program.
