Cooperative Marketing Program Kicks-Off 16th Year

Free Orientation Meeting and Media Trade Show on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 8:30 am
BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Commission’s Cultural Division will host the 2007 – 2008 Cooperative Marketing Orientation Seminar and Media Trade Show on Thursday, September 20, 2007, 8:30 am – noon, at ArtServe Inc, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.
This free workshop is strongly recommended for not-for-profit, Broward-based cultural organizations that wish to participate in this subsidized advertising program. Additionally, media representatives will be available at the trade show, and there will be a special presentation by Neal Hecker of WPBT Channel 2.
In May 1998, Hecker joined WPBT Channel 2 in Miami as program manager and in 2007 was appointed to his current post of VP, Program Services. Responsible for all of WPBT’s digital and analog programming, he oversees the station’s editorial and creative direction in all phases of program development, production, program acquisition, research, and scheduling, as well as program operations/traffic, and on-air promotion. In 2006, Hecker spearheaded the creation of uVu (you-view), a video-sharing website and companion digital broadcast channel powered by WPBT Channel 2, for which he currently serves as chief content officer. He earned a bachelor of arts in broadcasting from the State University of New York, Binghamton (SUNY) and his professional work has been recognized by numerous awards including: CPB Awards, Ace Awards, a Clio Award Nomination, a Golden Grid Award for scheduling from the Public Television Programmers Association, Cable Marketing Awards and Emmy Awards.

The Cooperative Marketing Program is a subsidized advertising program and capacity-building workshop series, designed to develop skills for building marketing structure and identity. These are creative and interactive workshops that encourage participants to investigate, identify and sculpt the building blocks for strong marketing.
